Ce beau livre est essentiellement consacr\u00e9 \u00e0 des questions li\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019arch\u00e9ologie, \u00e0 la Pr\u00e9histoire et \u00e0 l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9, mais il contient aussi un article qui a tout de suite attir\u00e9 notre attention par son sujet : les sgraffites \u00e0 Bruxelles .<\/p>\n<p>C\u00e9line Devillers nous emm\u00e8ne dans le d\u00e9dale des sgraffites bruxellois qui font aujourd\u2019hui l\u2019objet d\u2019un inventaire scientifique. Elle y puise la mati\u00e8re utile \u00e0 une recherche sur les figures f\u00e9minines dans ce mode graphique particulier inspir\u00e9 de la Renaissance. Le succ\u00e8s de la technique ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 au rendez-vous, un tr\u00e8s grand nombre de maisons, de magasins, d\u2019immeubles ou d\u2019\u00e9coles se sont par\u00e9s de sgraffites au tournant des xixe et xxe si\u00e8cles.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019article pose la question du portrait f\u00e9minin dans ces sgraffites \u00e0 l\u2019iconographie tr\u00e8s vari\u00e9e. Il t\u00e9moigne de la multitude de repr\u00e9sentations f\u00e9minines, le portrait se singularisant dans un nombre limit\u00e9<br \/>\nd\u2019exemples. Les parall\u00e8les de forme et de style dans l\u2019\u00e9chantillon propos\u00e9 allant de 1882 \u00e0 1923 donnent au lecteur l\u2019envie d\u2019en savoir plus sur ces d\u00e9cors, parfois \u00e0 forte charge symboliste, et dont la composition est souvent bien ma\u00eetris\u00e9e. Tant\u00f4t limit\u00e9e \u00e0 des visages de face, de profil ou de trois-quarts, tant\u00f4t en pied dans des attitudes vari\u00e9es ou parfois languissantes, la figure f\u00e9minine int\u00e9gr\u00e9e dans un d\u00e9cor v\u00e9g\u00e9tal ou aux formes g\u00e9om\u00e9trisantes, est loin d\u2019\u00eatre anodine\u00a0; elle fut abondamment choisie comme sujet de repr\u00e9sentation dans les sgraffites bruxellois.<br \/>\nLes questions pos\u00e9es et les observations \u00e9tablies dans cet article mettent en \u00e9vidence quelques figures f\u00e9minines de deux des artistes les plus en vogue dans ce domaine \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque : Privat Livemont et Paul Cauchie. L\u00e0 o\u00f9 l\u2019artiste a port\u00e9 l\u2019art du sgraffite \u00e0 son sommet, il a pu int\u00e9grer le portrait d\u2019une \u00e9pouse ou d\u2019un mod\u00e8le constituant une muse. Parmi les sgraffites les plus d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s abord\u00e9s dans l\u2019article figurent ceux de la maison personnelle de Lina et Paul Cauchie rue des Francs, et de leur seconde maison avenue de la Chasse, ainsi que ceux d\u2019une maison de la rue Vogler d\u00e9cor\u00e9e par Privat Livemont pour son neveu (fig.\u00a01).<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><h6>1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 C\u00e9line Devillers, \u00ab Le portrait f\u00e9minin dans les sgraffites \u00e0 Bruxelles.<br \/>\nD\u00e9but d\u2019une enqu\u00eate\u00a0\u00bb, dans Laureline Cattelain, Alison Smolderen &amp; Marie<br \/>\nGillard, \u00e9ds, Arch\u00e9ologues Malgr\u00e9-Tout.
