Il s\u2019agissat d\u2019une intervention pr\u00e9alable au projet immobilier concernant le b\u00e2timent no 34, dirig\u00e9 par la sprl Architectes Associ\u00e9s. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e durant les mois d\u2019octobre et de novembre 2011 sous la responsabilit\u00e9 scientifique de la S.R.A.B. et sous la conduite du p\u00e9dologue Yannick Devos et des arch\u00e9ologues Sylvie Byl, C\u00e9line Devillers et\u00a0 Michel Fourny, aid\u00e9s par les op\u00e9rateurs Marc Gevaert et Laurent Benois.<\/p>\n<p>La fouille a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 plusieurs indices d\u2019occupation ant\u00e9rieurs et post\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re enceinte de Bruxelles dont la construction est situ\u00e9e durant le XIII<span class=\"exposant\">e<\/span> si\u00e8cle. Les traces d\u2019une carri\u00e8re d\u2019extraction de gr\u00e8s, observ\u00e9es en plusieurs endroits de la parcelle, ainsi qu\u2019un important niveau de \u00ab\u00a0terres noires\u00a0\u00bb pr\u00e9c\u00e8dent l\u2019\u00e9dification du mur d\u2019enceinte. Les terres noires ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 la topographie ancienne et livr\u00e9 des fragments de c\u00e9ramiques. Ces tessons datant du XIII<span class=\"exposant\">e<\/span> si\u00e8cle permettent\u00a0 d\u2019affiner la chronologie des couches du terrain et du mur d\u00e9fensif. La fouille a \u00e9galement livr\u00e9 une fosse riche en mat\u00e9riel arch\u00e9ologique d\u2019\u00e9poque moderne (XV<span class=\"exposant\">e<\/span>\u2013XVI<span class=\"exposant\">e<\/span> si\u00e8cles) et des vestiges de murs plus tardifs.
